Looking In Shop Windows

This shop's window contains a myriad of reflections. All the shapes and colors intrigued me.

The City Daily Photo theme for December 1, 2015, is "Shop Windows."

Food Truck...

...on Highway 441, near Micanopy, Florida. I believe it serves Cuban food.

Re-arranging The Eggs

This photo shows the swapping or re-arranging of eggs.

I've seen this "re-arranging" of the eggs numerous times in our grocery stores. It usually involves people who look for cracked or broken eggs in a carton, and swap those out for good eggs from another carton; that's neither bad nor unexpected.

But then you have people who take more expensive eggs and swap them with eggs from a less expensive carton.

It must be an ongoing problem, as I've noticed that sometimes checkout clerks check the eggs presented to them to see if they are the right eggs for the carton.

Who sells their soul for $1.50?

A Sign of Hope?

Happy Thanksgiving to all and may your day be filled with love and laughter and gratitude!

Oh, may it also be filled with good food - turkey, veggies and pumpkin pie.

Pecan pie may be substituted if necessary.  With ice cream.

Gators and Gear at the Oaks Mall, Gainesville, Florida

Gainesville is the home of the Gators (University of Florida). It is not surprising therefore that the local mall features a lot of "Gator" merchandise. The Oaks Mall has a center section which is inhabited mostly by various kiosks selling Gator stuff. In the center of the center section stands a full-size alligator to attract the attention of the shoppers.

The Seabreeze Restaurant & Bar - Cedar Key, Florida

We've posted photos of this place previously, but it's an iconic landmark and quite attractive, so I'll doubtless post more pictures of it in the future.

The Seabreeze hasn't changed much since 1988 when we first dined here. The restaurant is on the upper level and offers great views of the Gulf of Mexico.

The Pavilion at Sholom Park

The Hebrew word for "peace" is shalom. The meaning is quite broad, reflecting the kind of peace where all is in perfect order, where harmony rules among people and the creation. It can also be spelled "sholom."

Sholom was the word used by Sidney Colen when he built this park some years back. Sholom Park is a very peaceful place; a place to walk and meditate, a place where you can let the cares of the world wash away, a place that surrounds you with quiet and stillness and beauty.

The Dock is on the left...it follows a half-circle around the marina. Beyond the dock is the Gulf of Mexico.

Left Behind

While on a bike ride this morning, we saw a fellow wearing an Ocala hat down on his knees peering into what appeared to be a hole in the ground.

Some very strange people have moved up here from south Florida, so we didn't think much of it and kept on riding.

On our way home, however, all we saw was the hat. The obvious and only conclusion was that some animal had pulled the guy into the hole and in the process, he lost his hat.

So I called 911 but were surprised to learn they weren't much interested. The woman who answered the phone wanted to know where the guy came from.  I said we didn't know, but we were guessing south Florida.

She said, "That's what I thought. We don't have time to take care of these strange people from south Florida because we're so busy taking care of old people from the north."

Then she asked, "Did he have an Ocala hat?"

I said, "Yes."

"Aha!" she said. "That settles it. He was from south Florida; ev'rybody from south Florida buys an Ocala hat. Call the animal control office in Miami. Maybe they'll send someone up to investigate."

"OK" said I.  Then I thought "This guy won't need the hat anymore," so I picked it up and and we rode on home.  Funny thing - it fit!

Dog Training at the Mall

Well, it was more of an exhibition than actual training. There were three different dogs and three different trainers and they put the dogs through their exercises to the delight of kids of all ages!
