Oak-Griner Baptist Church

Another example of a rather typical Baptist church on the outskirts of the city of Ocala.

Another nice looking and inviting building. But wait, is that what winter looks like there? The grass is green the trees are green. So you just have to put up with a cloudy sky? Must be tough.

Very symmetrical and looks like it has lovely stained glass in the windows.

Love the verticals of the spire and the flagpole!

Oh I love this church. I love the color, the shape and even the spire. Neat.
How hysterical...er, historical is it?

An elegant and essential building.

Jacob, regarding the carrier Lincoln: In the summer the port has Navy Days and one can explore the ships that are in. I went down there one time but the crush of people was too much for me.
I wish I could have gotten a clearer pic. MB

Simple and peaceful.

@ Small City - I'm with you; just can't stand crowds. If going somewhere means huge, noisy, rambunctious crowds, I'll pass.

They make me hysterical!

@ Tricia - They actually said "plethora" on TV? Maybe they've been reading CDP blogs?

Enjoy the plethora of your comments!

This reminds «Louis» of the old joke about the difference between a Northern Baptist and a Southern Baptist.

The Northern Baptist, influenced by modernism, says "there is no hell". To which the traditionalist Southern Baptist replies, "The hell there ain't!"

A very traditional, clean and modern design. No neon or flashing lights.

Are you and Lois Anne part of the arm waving Solid Gold dancers at this Baptist church? I knew it!

At my church, Easter Lutheran in Eagan, where they feel I am apparently reverent enough to give out communion (I'm sure it's just a matter if time until they ask me to perform a baptism!),there are a few bold, Lutheran arm wavers. I know, it's unbelievable!

Happy dancing, Jake and Lois Anne!!

WOW! That's an interesting church for a typical one--they don't look like that around here!

Lowell said...

My dear Allison. I'm not sure if it's a privilege to hand out communion or perhaps someone's out to get you!

And I avoid all churches like the plague so you wouldn't catch me dancing in any of them.

You have arm-wavers in a Lutheran Church? Yikes! That's terrible. What the hell is this world coming to?

Maybe they are just trying to keep warm up there in Minneesota?

I am always impressed with the size of the property surrounding churches outside of Manhattan ..

As churches go, I like this classic, simple design.

That is such a clean-cut church...never thought I would apply that word to a building but I sure think it fits here.

Is the surface stucco? I;m used to seeing brick or either white churches, so this looks different to me.
